CDP PUBLISHING GUIDELINES

 

GENERAL POLICY

 

CDP functions as a subsidy publishing vehicle to publish scholarly research, and to facilitate self publishing of work of good quality in various fields -  poetry, prose, drama, biography, memoir, history, social sciences, religion, humanities, etc.

 

Authors whose works are not commissioned, but have been evaluated and approved for publishing, are expected to follow basic production guidelines to prepare camera ready manuscripts for printing once CDP has approved the document for publishing.

 

CDP, as publisher, reserves the right to manage ISBN, Library of Congress registration, bar codes, and copyright.

 

Fees for service depend on the nature of the service provided.

 

Estimated time for delivery of printed document is 6-8 weeks after final submission of camera ready manuscript.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR PRODUCTION 

 

BASIC PREPARATIONS

 

Manuscripts must be typed, single-space or 1.5 throughout, on one side of 8.5 x 11 inches white paper, but with text margins of  6” width and 9” length. 

 

Photographs and illustrations must be properly labeled with appropriate title, credits and dates, and submitted in a separate file.

 

Cover design and art work must be submitted in a separate file.

 

Title page:     Title and names of author/authors/editor

                      

Page Numbers  Page numbers may be placed at bottom center or top right of page.

                           Page numbering starts from the title page as P.(i)

 

Copyright page (Publisher’s information only) is                               P (ii)

Table of Contents                                                                              P. (iii)

Dedications, Acknowledgements and Credits….                           P. (iv)

Preface                                                                                                P. (v)

List of Illustrations, Maps or Tables (if any)                                      P. (vi)

 

Preferably use Roman numerals from title page up to the end of the preliminary pages,

then start using Arabic numerals for the main body of the text –

from the Introduction or Foreword onwards.

 

Appendices, Endnotes, Bibliography go at the end.

MANUSCRIPT STYLE

References, citations and general style of manuscripts should follow

… the Chicago style (14th edition) for the Social Sciences, but may follow

…the MLA style for the Humanities, or

…APA for Psychology. 

 

Font size should be either 11 or 12.

Photographs   Use good clear black and white preferably;  but color is acceptable at a

                          higher cost.

 

FROM THE PRINTERS

 

Please do not create file names longer than 31 characters, or use special characters like slashes and question marks in file names, as this may cause files to error on our system.

We accept recent versions of QuarkXPress, PageMaker, InDesign, FreeHand, PhotoShop, Illustrator, or PDF with fonts & images embedded.

Please adjust halftones before creating PDF files. Halftones within PDF files may require additional charges and cannot always be adjusted.

We prefer that files be submitted on 5¼. CD-Roms,….. but we also accept:

5¼. DVDs, 3½. Diskettes, 3½. Syquest EZ 135MB Cartridges,

3½. Iomega Zip 100MB or 250MB Disks, or 5¼. Iomega Jaz 1GB Cartridges.

 

We do not accept or support files created in Microsoft Publisher, Word, Works, CorelDraw, FrameMaker, Ventura, Excel, Power Point, or any application not listed.

 

However, most Windows applications can be converted to PDF with .PDF995., a free program available for download at .http://www.pdf995.com..

 

If both PDF files and native application files are provided on the submission disk we will use the PDF files first, and use the native application files as a backup only.

If you do not wish us to use the PDF files to print the job, please do not include them on the submission disk.
